Read, Keep, Love

Ensuring that children have the opportunity to engage in and read a variety of high quality texts has always been a priority at Linthorpe Community Primary school; but never more so than now. Whilst many children at Linthorpe are lucky enough to have homes full of brilliant books, we truly appreciate the importance of every child having books of their own.

That is why we feel so passionately about our project: ‘Read, Keep, Love.’ At Linthorpe, we give every child the opportunity to vote with their peers for a book to read with their class; having been given the option of a variety of fantastic modern texts, selected for their age group by a literary specialist.

Together, the children and teacher share and immerse themselves in their new text, be it a picture book, fiction or non-fiction, before the children then get to keep their own copy of the book to share with loved ones at home. By the end of each year, all children in KS1 and KS2 will have a new book to call their own that they will read, keep and love.
